  • This cover was created using the new format of The Big Issue, where the text takes a bigger part of the cover, using impactful colours like a red contrasted with a dimmed yellow in the background. These colours make the picture to stand out because of the contrast between hot and intense colours and the cold colours of the picture, where we can see the main focus of this edition’s magazine, in this case the musician Sam Fender with the title of his article “Britain’s most wanted” making a crossed culture reference to the famous 2Pac song “America’s most wanted” as both of them are musicians with a strong political message with a big influence in their respective audiences.

  • Sam Fender has been an artist who has recently become a britain’s icon of the middle-class, as he has made music which has a strong political message against the government, the capitalism and the society leaded by the wealthiest. In this front cover, The Big Issue not only promotes Sam Fender as an artist but also it lets him to represent himself as he intended so his message is not manipulated by the Big Issue.

  • In my opinion, The Big issue is trying to call the attention by using big and red colours for the cover so it will attract people to buy it and then they can be interested in the San Fender article and on the other articles mentioned on the top of the magazine. A deeper meaning we can take from this cover is to see how could the ideas and characterization of Sam Fender is, as he is represented on a much colder and colourless scenario than the letters from the Big Issue, showing how he is uninterested on calling the attention for the magazine and deciding to use his usual clothes and photographed on a usual place for him. My conclusion is that The Big Issue lets his artist to represent themselves as they wish so their message is not lost for the sake of more attention for the magazine.
